WHAT IS EPICONDYLITIS?
Tennis elbow (often called “elbow of the tennis player”) is the result of overuse of the extensor muscle tendon attached to the epicondyle (a small projection of the outside of the bone of the upper arm near the elbow).
Symptoms include:
• Pain that radiates from the elbow to the forearm and wrist, which is accentuated when tightening the fingers;
• Sensitivity to touch in the outer or inner region of the elbow;
• Sometimes, a mild swelling of the elbow.
